passion for pizza, you could be in with the chance of meeting the band in
association with Scuzz TV. What do you have to do for this awesome prize?
Design your very own MUNICIPAL WASTE pizza!
The band wants you to design a MUNICIPAL WASTE-themed pizza, complete with
pizza base (can be any shape as long as it can fit in a pizza oven) along
with a range of toppings of your choice.
The design must represent a pizza with real, edible ingredients, and
entrants must explain why they have chosen those specific ingredients and
toppings in relation to MUNICIPAL WASTE.
The top five recipes will be chosen by the band and made at Pizzeria
Pappagone. The band will then judge the pizzas based on taste, excitement
and overall impression. The designer of the winning pizza will then get to
hang out with the members of MUNICIPAL WASTE at the band's show at the Scala

merch. The designers of the other four chosen recipes will receive a goody
bag full of MUNICIPAL WASTE merch.
Entries must be sent to admin@scuzz.com by February 1st at 12pm UK time.
The winner will be announced on Scuzz TV.

OCEANO TO BEGIN RECORDING NEW ALBUM, TAPS ZEUESS AS PRODUCER
A year after completing the recording of their hugely successful 2009 debut, DEPTHS, Chicago's deathcore heavyweights, OCEANO are heading back into the studio to record their follow-up. Set for release later this year, the new album will tell a story that promises to open eyes and deliver a more mature experience than many might normally expect. "Expect us to go DEEPER than DEPTHS this time around, and NOT just meaning heavier;" says vocalist, Adam Warren. "This is more than just our sophomore album. It is a great vision to be accomplished when all of the pieces we've worked so hard to create - art, music, lyrics and overall atmosphere - come together."
In order to make OCEANO's vision a reality, the band has enlisted the help of Zeuss to produce the record. Zeuss, one of the most well regarded producers in metal today, has worked with acts like MUNICIPAL WASTE, THE ACACIA STRAIN, HATEBREED and SHADOWS FALL. Known for exponentially increasing an act's natural abilities while in the studio, Zeuss is enthusiastic at the chance to take OCEANO to the next level. "I'm really excited to be working on the new Oceano record.;" says the Springfield, MA-based producer. "I see this as a great opportunity to work with one of the truly talented up and coming bands in the metal genre." Knowing how important it is to extend the band's reach from within their already dominant grasp on the deathcore scene, Zeuss adds; "I look forward to pushing the band to their full potential
and making them stand above the rest."
OCEANO's Billboard Heatseekers-charting debut album, DEPTHS, is out now worldwide. Get your limited
edition copy with two bonus tracks and a bonus "Into the Depths" DVD in

WHITE WIZZARD BASSIST EXPLAINS HOW METALLICA AND QUEENSRYCHE HELPED KILL METAL IN THE 90'S
In a controversial blog post, exclusively on HardTimes.ca, WHITE WIZZARD bassist, Jon Leon goes into great detail on why he believes that the legendary acts, METALLICA and QUEENSRYCHE were instrumental in the decline of heavy metal in the early 1990's. Jon puts the era into context and elaborates on why both bands, once symbols for the anti-establishment fell prey to the powers that be and ultimately, along with the help of other contributing factors would help bring the downfall of heavy metal music at that time:
"Metallica's track 6..."Don't tread on me" was a track lyrically that actually called upon peoples patriotism and glorified support of the US government and the blind devotion of patriotism without questioning.... It was an odd 180 to say the least.....lines like "Love it or Leave it" were a sharp contrast to the lines on Justice...so much it was hard to believe more did not see it....To have such a strong lyrical stance on the justice album that was so anti system and exposing the lies and inspiring heavily to question it......it seemed odd that this album would be silent in this regard and then on top of it there was this patriotic song that encouraged a blind devotion to country......
Queensryche's track 6, "Empire" was equally head scratching from a band that had released the most lyrically sharp attack on the government and system in music history...this song seems to paint a PG rated picture of a call to have more cops on the street to avoid the kind of uprising the previous album had almost seemed to push for. There is a narration in the middle explaining that we do not pay enough for law enforcement....What a huge almost hypocritical contrast to put out an album and statement at the level of mindcrime, and then to basically say in this one song that we need more cops on the street and kind of a "hey, yeah we fucked up and we should not have wrote about a revolution or exposed all these truths....conform to the system-we are going to now and make alot of money".....I guess you could argue they got wise and cashed in...but it is just really interesting to me-always has been, so that is why I decided to write this....Now they are warning us that conforming and not rebelling and getting more cops on the street will save us from "Empire" ....thanks guys.."
Jon Leon's lengthy opinion piece can be read in full at http://hardtimes.ca/node/9719

GAMA BOMB frontman PHILLY BYRNE comments:
"When we released Tales from the Grave in Space as a free download last
year, one of the most common responses from our fans was 'When can I get
this album on CD?' Which was both surprising and reassuring.
"We're giving our fans what we'd ideally like from a band we love; banging
thrash you can either listen to for free or own as a high-quality physical
package if you prefer something for your shelf.
"We worked hard, very hard, on the tracks which make up Half Cut. When we
spent days recording Tales... in the studio, we were working on Half Cut in
the kitchen of our cottage at night. We recorded on weekends and at home
long after recording had finished. These are the freshest songs we've
written, but they're quite different from the songs on Tales... they're a
bit meaner, a bit more evil.
"We're lucky we had the talent of Rory McGuigan to design the album sleeve.
He's made something that looks better to us than any thrash album ever made.
This is exactly the kind of CD we were always meant to have, and we hope our
fans agree.
"People asked us 'where's the CD?' and we're happy we can finally say 'Here
it is, go crazy'."

GRAHAM and will see the band tearing their way around the UK before heading
off to mainland Europe. Joining EVILE on the tour will be American
thrashers WARBRINGER and Israel's THE FADING.
EVILE drummer BEN CARTER speaks from the road:
"We're looking forward to a new start in 2010. Obviously it's going to be
difficult and sad without Mike, but Joel's a fantastic bass player and he's
a lovely guy to boot, so I anticipate much excitement on the road and at the
gigs and we hope our fans give us a warm welcome with our new member.
"I'm looking forward to headlining in Europe with our new line-up and
hanging out with some crazy European fans. I know Mike would have enjoyed
this, and I'm sure there'll be a host of alcohol drunk in his honour along
the way.
"It's going to be fun introducing Joel to our Evile family in so many
different countries. As long as you're there, we'll be there, irrespective
of the bloody snow! See you all on the road, I'll raise a drumstick and a

AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH COMPLETES RECORDING OF THEIR UPCOMING ALBUM
Detroit death metallers, AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH have completed work on their upcoming new album, due out later this year, via EARACHE RECORDS. For the entire month of December 2009, the band made residence at Dreadcore Productions in White Lake, MI. The band recorded the album with producer, Josh Wichman, who made sure to catch the band at their peak over each take. AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH guitarist, Kyle McIlmurray issued this brief statement upon the album's completion:
"We just exited the studio and have begun the mixing process. Josh sent us a quick mix of one of the tracks from the album and we were all blown away by what we have all created with our time in the studio. You're definitely all in for a treat. Expect a new, more mature AHFW. I think every member in the band was given the chance to shine on this album. We all poured our blood, sweat and tears into this to take the bar and raise it higher. Needless to say, we're all stoked beyond belief for the release of this record. The album artwork is being done by the renowned God Machine.. Theres another thing we're way excited about. The list goes on and on.. Basically in a nutshell we have wiped the slate clean as a band and are now ready to continue to fill it with nothing less then stellar characteristics."

In my honest opinion, it's much heavier and darker than our self-titled debut, more cohesive, thematic, melodic, but not completely over the top. In a nutshell, the works. To me, the songs sound totally different than the demos and I was blown away after the songs began to take form. They sound BIG."

EVILE FRONTMAN COMMENTS ON UPCOMING NORTH AMERICAN TOURS WITH KREATOR AND OVERKILL
British thrashers, EVILE recently announced that they will be embarking on their first major North American tours with such legendary acts as KREATOR and OVERKILL. EVILE frontman/guitarist, Matt Drake recently took some time to proclaim his (and the band's) excitement to hit the road across the pond in March through early-May:
"Well it's about time it happened, we can finally say that we are coming to the USA!! It's been a long time coming because we've tried before, we've had a few plans made in the past to get to the states but they always fell through but it's finally confirmed and happening. We couldn't be happier that we get to lay waste to peoples senses on a nightly basis with such legendary bands that we have nothing but respect for, we're looking forward to meeting people who have listened to our cd's but never had the chance to see us live and we're also looking forward to introducing ourselves to a lot of new people and instead of easing ourselves into it by doing a week or so we're going for a full on two month straight tour with only a few days off, the way it should be!! I'm personally looking forward to being able to visit such iconic places as New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco as these are the kind of places i never thought i would be lucky enough to see. Ladies and gentlemen the British are coming!!!!"

New EVILE bassist JOEL GRAHAM comments:
"I'd just like to say how much I'm looking forward to the upcoming tour with
the band, and can't wait to meet all the Evile fans personally. Since the
announcement was made about me joining Evile, the words of support have been
overwhelming in what is ultimately a very difficult position in the band to
fill. All I will say is, I will do my best every night of the tour and
contribute what I can to keep this band stronger than ever. See you on
tour, and thank you.."
EVILE are set to kick off a headlining European tour next week with their
new line-up. The "Infecting Nations" tour will start with a run of shows on

SSS WISH YOU A "MERRY CHRISTMASSS" WITH FREE CHRISTMAS SONG
Santa Claus has read your list, and this year will make your biggest wish
come true - British crossover thrashers SSS have released a free Christmas
song!
come true - British crossover thrashers SSS have released a free Christmas
song!
The Liverpool thrashers have taken a moment out of getting knee-deep in
mince pies to think of others at this festive time of year and to give you
all a special treat with their brand new, free Christmas song, "Merry
ChristmaSSS".
Join in the festive frolics, SSS style, and download the track for free at
http://rapidshare.com/files/321679834/SSS_-_Merry_ChristmaSSS.mp3
You can also hear the track on the band's MySpace page at
http://www.myspace.com/shortsharpshockuk
View an image with the lyrics, full of seasonal cheer, at
http://earacherecords.com/myspace/SSS_MerryChristmaSSS_Lyrics.jpg
Earache Records caught up with SSS frontman Foxy to quiz him about all
things Christmas:
Q: Why have you done a free Christmas song?
Foxy: "We are following in the footsteps of some of the greatest Christmas
songs ever written from yesteryear - Slade, Wizzard, Bing Crosby, Nat King
Cole, Shakin Stevens, FEAR and Band Aid - that have all placed themselves
firmly in our hearts and on cheap Christmas compilation CDs at this time of
year. Now here's our meagre festive rattler that will be played for years
to come at family discos and shake the false teeth from all our nans'
heads."
Q: Did you enjoy Christmas as a kid?
Foxy: "What's not to like about Christmas when you are a kid? A time when
there was actual snow at Christmas. Being the first in the yard and lining
up snowballs to lob at your mates and teachers. Skidding in one strip on
the ice until the caretaker dumps grit on it. Making cards, crackers (out
of a toilet roll), cotton wool snowmen and calendars. Mucking around as a
king in the nativity play and changing the words to the carols, "While
shepherds wash their socks night...". Bringing toys in on the last day of
term was always a doss. A big countdown to a day you thought wouldn't ever
come, so you get to your pit early, try to sleep, then wake up with a
stocking on the end of your bed full with all sorts of stuff, mosh into all
your presents and play out the front of your house, get cold, then back for
your dinner and watch Star Wars. Then play with everything properly on
boxing day. Bingo.
"As you got older, what was a bit of fun at the end of the year, I found out
it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Laced with the highly dubious
undertone of supernatural religion coupled with the fact my Mum worked
herself to the bone to get us presents and not some obscure Greek bishop who
lived in Turkey, that has a Dutch name and was supposed to deliver free
presents to the world all in one night to all the good boys and girls. Once
that penny dropped, I unsubscribed."
Q: Are you a bit of a scrooge?
Foxy: "I enjoy this time of year as the winter season, the freezing cold,
the early nights and to bring some light in the darkest time of the year,
reflecting on the year and looking forward to the forthcoming one. I'm up
for that.
"I just don't like or enjoy the way that it's been turned into an
obligation, a pious deception, a time of over-consumption, bickering and
waste. The materials to make and deliver 10 million Christmas cards is off
the scale. 7.75 million trees to be cut down to prop up fairies for 2
weeks, 10 million turkeys will roast into oblivion, wasting 3,000 tons of
foil in the cooking process. In excess of 20 billion will be used on credit
cards with many families turning to high interest and "doorstep lenders" to
cover any shortfall. 135,000 tons of waste plastic alone, waste wrapping
paper (82km^2) to wrap up Guernsey in, with a high proportion ending in a
landfill as opposed to being recycled. What's worse than this type of
Christmas? On some levels Scrooge was right."
Q: What do you eat on Christmas day?
Foxy: "A souped up Sunday dinner that becomes a Christmas dinner. The king
of dinners. 8 types of veg including parsnips roasted in golden syrup,
stuffing, yorkshire puds, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, apple sauce! Not
into roast potatoes mind. 2 Linda Mc pies. Home made Christmas pudding for
afters. Home made mince pies and coffee. Just no dead stuff on my plate
and no booze in my pudding either. A small meagre feast within my means
without going overboard. Less is more. Merry ChristmaSSS everybody."

EVILE ANNOUNCES NEW BASSIST
British thrashers EVILE have revealed the identity of their new bassist, who
joins the band following the tragic and untimely death of their late
bassist, Mike Alexander.
joins the band following the tragic and untimely death of their late
bassist, Mike Alexander.
Mike Alexander passed away on October 5th, 2009 while the band was on tour
in Sweden.
EVILE members Matt Drake, Ol Drake and Ben Carter have released the
following statement:
"This has been one of the most bizarre and surreal tasks we've ever had to
undertake. It isn't like Mike has decided to leave the band and we're
simply finding a new bass player, he was taken from us, and we were forced
to replace him. In effect we had to look for a new Mike, but that would
never happen. He was one of a kind, and we'll never forget him.
"We had hundreds upon hundreds of emails from bass players from around the
world (though we can only realistically have a bassist from the UK), and we
want to thank everyone for taking the time out to contact us, and the people
who came to jam with us. We only had a certain amount of time to actually
audition/jam with bass players before the upcoming tours, to get time in for
rehearsing the songs, getting visas sorted etc.
"Our new bass player goes by the name Joel Graham. He's an excellent,
experienced bass player, and a really nice guy. We'd all appreciate it if
you gave him a warm welcome to the band, as this must be a bizarre situation
for him to be in also. We'll be getting some photos taken with him soon so
you can see us with Joel, we just wanted to get the news out there that we
have a new bassist, and that we thank each and every person for auditioning.
Mike would be honoured at the amount of respect and admiration you expressed
to us through contacting us."
EVILE are set to kick off a headlining European tour in January. The
"Infecting Nations" tour will start with a run of UK shows, before the band
heads off to mainland Europe. Joining EVILE on the tour will be American
thrashers WARBRINGER and Israel's THE FADING.

We've been recording each day for no less than 15 hours, which can obviously get exhausting, but when we really need to chill out, we've got an Xbox on hand so we just kill some things and we're good to go."
AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH will be holed up in Dreadcore Productions in White Lake, MI throughout the entire month, breaking only for a number of one-off dates around Michigan. The band's Josh Wichman-produced EARACHE debut is set for release in 2010.

EVILE ANNOUNCE RAFFLE WINNERS; AUCTIONING GUITARS FROM EXODUS AND MORE
British thrashers EVILE have revealed the lucky winners of their recent
raffle, which was set up to raise money for the family of the band's late
bassist, Mike Alexander.
raffle, which was set up to raise money for the family of the band's late
bassist, Mike Alexander.
EVILE hosted two memorial shows in the UK last week to honour Mike
Alexander. The show included performances from MUTANT and GAMA BOMB, as
well a special cover set from EVILE with members of the other bands helping
out. A raffle was held at each show, with many incredible prizes up for
grabs which were kindly donated by bands and artists such as METALLICA,
SLAYER, IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, OZZY OSBOURNE and more.
To check if you were a lucky winner, or to see what goodies you could have
won, watch the video of EVILE drawing the winners at
http://www.mikealexander.co.uk/raffle.php
EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake comments:
"Thank you to everyone who bought a raffle ticket. You've no idea how much
you have helped Mike's family at this moment in time. They are overwhelmed
with the support. Thank you to all who came to the memorial shows, and
everyone who helped out. We have four guitars up for auction on Ebay, from
bands such as Exodus, Machine Head and Trivium."
EVILE are auctioning guitars which were kindly donated by Jackson guitars,
Phil Demmel of MACHINE HEAD, Gary Holt of EXODUS and Paolo Gregoletto of
TRIVIUM. View the items and place your bid at

ANNIHILATOR SIGNS TO EARACHE RECORDS FOR EUROPE
Earache Records is very proud to announce the signing of Canadian thrash
metal pioneers ANNIHILATOR to a European deal.
metal pioneers ANNIHILATOR to a European deal.
Since releasing their classic ALICE IN HELL debut in 1989, ANNIHILATOR has
consistently played heads-down, no-frills metal, led by guitar virtuoso JEFF
WATERS.
Now, in 2009, Earache is proud to welcome one of the originators of the
whole melodic-thrash style to it's roster, with a brand new (13th) studio
album set to be released in the new year. A selection of back catalogue
albums are also due to be released at a later date.
ANNIHILATOR guitarist and main-man JEFF WATERS comments:
"Finding a label home for Annihilator in Europe has never been difficult.
Finding a good, professional and stable one, that really knows metal, is
another matter. We found one! Earache and Annihilator are going to make a
great metal team and I can't think of anyone else that should be putting the
new Annihilator CD out but them! See you all in 2010!"
Earache Records label manager DAN TOBIN adds:
"Annihilator have continually flown the flag for metal in general and thrash
in particular for many years, and with Jeff Waters at the helm have produced
some of the most innovative and distinctive metal releases around. Earache
looks forward to teaming up with Jeff and spreading the gospel of
Annihilator far and wide with a killer new album that is sure to surprise a
lot of people with its genuine intensity and aggression."

ORDER OF ENNEAD FINISH RECORDING, REVEAL ALBUM TITLE
Floridian extreme metallers ORDER OF ENNEAD have finished recording their
second album. The band have set AN EXAMINATION OF BEING as the title for
the new album.
second album. The band have set AN EXAMINATION OF BEING as the title for
the new album.
AN EXAMINATION OF BEING was recorded at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford,
Florida with producer Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS), who
also produced ORDER OF ENNEAD's eponymous 2008 self-titled debut.
ORDER OF ENNEAD lead guitarist John Li comments:
"So what can I say about this new album? In my honest opinion, it's much
heavier and darker than our self-titled debut, more cohesive, thematic,
melodic, but not completely over the top. In a nutshell, the works. To me,
the songs sound totally different than the demos and I was blown away after
the songs began to take form. They sound BIG.
"The recording process went as smooth as ever and the results were
spectacular, due in part to the genius of our producer/engineer Mark Lewis.
He's got an ear like a bat and can spot an out of tune guitar a mile away; a
real no-bullshit kind of guy who can really get it done in there.
"Kev's guitars sound heavy as hell, Steve's drums are tight and powerful,
and I must say at the risk of tooting my own horn, I played some great stuff
as well (shameless, I know)."

WHITE WIZZARD SHOOTING MUSIC VIDEO FOR "OVER THE TOP"
Los Angeles' traditional metal act WHITE WIZZARD are shooting a brand new
video for "Over the Top", the title-track from the band's upcoming debut
full-length album.
video for "Over the Top", the title-track from the band's upcoming debut
full-length album.
WHITE WIZZARD will be trading their axes for guns as the five band members
turn into rugged outlaws and bring true heavy metal to the wild west. Far
from the typical "guys grimacing in a warehouse" metal videos that have
become the norm, "Over the Top" will be a lighthearted video which promises
to entertain with a fun story line.
The video for "Over the Top" is being shot with Dave Vorhes, who previously
directed WHITE WIZZARD's first music video for the track "High Speed GTO".
Fans of the first video will instantly recognise "Over the Top" as a sequel
to the "High Speed GTO" video, with the same classic car, an evil sorcerer
and the legendary White Wizzard himself set to make an appearance.
