EX-EVILE GUITARIST OL DRAKE ANNOUNCES BLOODSTOCK WARM-UP SHOW

Former EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake has announced a warm-up show prior to his appearance at this year's Bloodstock festival in Derbyshire, UK.

The six-string shredder will be performing a headlining solo set on Saturday, 1st August at The Parish in his hometown of Huddersfield, a week before he rocks the Sophie Stage at Bloodstock in support of his debut solo album.

Ol Drake comments:

"A week before setting off to Bloodstock, I will be popping by my old local, The Parish in Huddersfield, to promote my debut solo album 'Old Rake', where I spent many a pound coin on their whiskey and fell down a lot.

"My friend, Mikey Baird is putting the show on, who recently won 'Promoter of the Year' at the Pure Rawk Awards, and they have a great new venue so I can't wait to widdle my widdles in my hometown.  On drums will be my friend Rob Harris from the grind band Foetal Juice (check out their music video of 'Albert Grindstein', you won't be disappointed).

EX-EVILE GUITARIST OL DRAKE CONFIRMED FOR THE UK'S BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL

Former EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake has been announced for this year's Bloodstock festival, which takes place from August 6th - 9th at Catton Park in Derbyshire, UK.

The six-string shredder will be performing on Sunday, August 9th on the Sophie stage in support of his upcoming solo album, 'Old Rake'.  Other bands already confirmed for the festival include OPETH, OVERKILL, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, CANNIBAL CORPSE, NAPALM DEATH and more.

Carter - showcases the six-string shredder's phenomenal fretwork and features special guest appearances from the likes of Gary Holt (EXODUS, SLAYER), James Murphy (DEATH, TESTAMENT, OBITUARY) and Josh Middleton (SYLOSIS).  Also featured is sticksman Mike Heller (FEAR FACTORY, MALIGNANCY), who performs drums on the entire album.

"Behold the first single from the already-rusty 'Old Rake'.  This song was written by trying to write the cheesiest riff possible and going from there.

"I was speaking to Gary Holt and he said he'd like to solo on the album, and it just happened that when he'd said that I'd reached the main 'solo section' in its writing process.  Then I Thought 'I might as well go all out'.  James got involved and I couldn't believe it; to have two of my idols from growing up on one of MY songs was mind-blowing.  I then asked my friend, Josh, from Sylosis, who is a ridiculous shredder, and my other friend, Amit.  I met Amit through his working at a metal magazine publication, but mainly from at festivals involving alcohol; ridiculous shredder, too!

"Do not take a full impression of the whole album from this song; every track is different.  Hope you enjoy my cheese-fest of 'Guitarists Playing Guitars'!"

Nottingham's Kagoule have announced their long-awaited debut album Urth, due for release on August 21st 2015 via Earache Records. The prodigious teenagers have previously released a wealth of singles and are now ready to unleash a hugely impressive debut that not only belies their years, but proves they are one of the most exciting young bands in the UK.

Produced by Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys, M.I.A, The Fall) and Pete Fletcher (Childhood) Urth is an intense and forward-thinking listen from a band ready to step forward and shake things up. Despite their age, the band have formed a sound that is truly their own – dark, melodic, heavy and constantly evolving.

From guitarist Cai Burns' Dinosaur Jr-esque squall and fuzz, to Lucy Hatter’s rumbling bass and vocal harmonies through to Lawrence English’s unconventional and intuitive drumming, Urth is a fully realised, intelligent and cohesive debut. Opening with recent single ‘Gush’, the album takes the listener on an unbridled and hedonistic journey. The groove-laden ‘Glue’ bleeds into the off-kilter ‘Damp Sand’, while ‘Made of Concrete’s outwardly sweet appearance contradicts its darker themes. The energy of the punk inspired ‘Empty Mug’, featuring Lucy’s blood-curdling, screaming backing vocals, perfectly complements the soaring instrumental ‘Greenbeefo’. Closing on the positively anthemic ‘It Knows It’, Urth is a consistently powerful and memorable listen.

Producer Ross Orton says: "It's very rare on a wet and windy winter night in Sheffield you get blown away by the support band. Kagoule came saw and kicked my head off its shoulders, once I'd recovered and found my nerve I went over and demanded they let me into their world. That they did and sweet music was made. Kagoule are a mind bending band with infectiously catchy tunes. An honour to have them in my studio."

Having already amassed over 230,000 plays on Soundcloud with ‘Gush’, Kagoule have just unveiled it’s bizarre and inventive video, which can now be viewed on YouTube. Of the video, singer and guitarist Cai Burrns says: “We saw a video of this guy in Brighton with telekinetic abilities. After many nights of searching we tracked him down to the dark, back table of the Hobgoblin pub. We sang our praise and asked him to teach us the ways of the TK. He stood, put his cold hands on our shoulders and admitted that it was only camera trickery. We had been fooled. Our heads hung in silence, until Lucy blurted “Camera trickery? We could well do with a bit of that. We’ve only got a few days to make a new video” His eyes lit up and a broad smile crawled up his face. Grabbing us by the hands he sprinted for the door, dragging us along behind him.”

The band have consistently impressed live, sharing stages with acts including The Wytches, Iceage, METZ, Sebadoh and Drenge, as well as performing at Glastonbury Festival for BBC Introducing. As well as amassing a dedicated fanbase, they have been critically lauded by the likes of Rolling Stone, NME, Guardian, while receiving plays from the likes of BBC Radio 6Music and BBC Radio 1.

Recalling the early spirit and danger of rabble-rousing rock heroes, Biters have faithfully built upon their punk heritage and their love of 70’s rock to deliver music that ignites, incites and excites in equal measure.

Possessing a heart full of rock 'n' roll, the band play foot stomping, fist pumping, spit-on-the-floor anthems possessed of a fighting spirit that refuses to give in.

Band leader Tuk explains the band's outlook:

RIVAL SONS TO HEADLINE JACK DANIEL'S 'JACK ROCKS' EVENT IN HOLMFIRTH, UK

From Hollywood to Holmfirth: Jack Daniel’s brings US Rockers Rival Sons to kick off the UK leg of their World Tour in the quiet West Yorkshire town

Jack Rocks Your Town sees the Long Beach, CA band giving residents an unforgettable rock ‘n’ roll experience before headlining the Picturedrome venue on 24th March

In the latest of its ‘Jack Rocks’ series of events, Jack Daniel’s will be bringing some rock ‘n’ roll to one of the quaintest towns in Britain; Holmfirth.  The iconic Tennessee whiskey brand has invited the Californian rockers Rival Sons to give residents a live music experience they won’t forget.  

Rival Sons are used to life on the road as one of America’s hottest rock ‘n’ roll acts.  Hailing from Long Beach, California, the band have shared stages with the likes of Lenny Kravitz and Aerosmith, toured all over the world playing cities from Johannesburg to Tokyo and have bagged high-profile TV slots on Late Night with David Letterman and Later… with Jools Holland.  

The band will rock Holmfirth, a quintessentially English postcard-perfect town with a population of 1,900 throughout the day on 24th March.  Arriving early via helicopter and landing at Holmfirth Cricket Club, Rival Sons will be met with a welcome party at the club’s pavilion before spend the day hanging out with the town’s residents ahead of the gig that evening and filming a video on location.  Expect them to be spotted enjoying local pubs, cafes and even meeting the local mayor.  

Despite the town being rural, it possesses a hidden music gem in the form of the Holmfirth Picturedrome.  A 650-capacity live music venue and one of the world’s first cinemas, it made the shortlist in NME and Jack Daniel’s quest to find Britain’s Best Small Venue in 2014. To top off a perfect day Rival Sons will finish by playing a headline slot there. Emerging artists will be given the chance the shine too with support coming from local band Crybabycry who were suggested by the venue’s Head Promoter Pete Carr as ones to watch in the future as well as main support from hotly-tipped Domino Recordings signings and Artic Monkeys labelmates The Bohicas.  As well as inviting local residents, Jack Daniel’s will also be bussing in fans from nearby towns Huddersfield, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester especially for the one-off free gig.

Things don’t end there though as Jack Daniel’s and Rival Sons are destined to give Holmfirth a high-octane night it’ll never forget; The Box Office venue is to be transformed and will host an exclusive aftershow party hosted by Britain’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll clubnight This Feeling, featuring a DJ set from the future face of Radio 1’s Chart Show Clara Amfo.

Jack Rocks Your Town continues Jack Daniel’s Jack Rocks series of events celebrating live music in real places and follows on from their four-month collaboration with the East London venue Jack Rocks The Macbeth and its ongoing monthly Jack Rocks partnership with iconic independent venues all over the UK.

Rival Sons’ lead singer Jay Buchanan commented "Rowdy rock 'n' roll, a theatre full of sweaty bodies and Old No. 7?  Let's do this."

Aussie hard rockers MASSIVE have released video footage from a live acoustic session recorded at Google/YouTube UK headquarters.

MASSIVE were invited to the internet giant's creator space in London during their first ever European tour last year, with frontman Brad Marr and lead guitarist Ben Laguda recording acoustic renditions of the songs "Ghost" and "One By One", which appear on their debut album, FULL THROTTLE.

KAGOULE KICK OFF UK TOUR IN LONDON

OCEANO ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM AND HEADLINING TOUR

Chicago deathcore heavyweights OCEANO have revealed details for their upcoming new studio album, ASCENDANTS, as well as dates for a headlining tour.

The album is due to be released on March 23rd in Europe and March 24th in the USA, and will be OCEANO's first new release since 2013's INCISIONS.  The album was recorded at The Nook studio in New Lenox, Illinois with producer Nick Nativo (MONSTERS).

OCEANO frontman Adam Warren comments:

"This album is an evolution of our brand of heaviness.  It is our most focussed release ever and contains a concept that elevates the band onto a higher plane.  I want every Oceano fan old and new to be launched into an altered state and immerse themselves into discovering what Ascendants is all about."

A brand new, vinyl-only edition of the classic BOLT THROWER 'Peel Sessions' recorded for legendary Radio One DJ John Peel is out now.

Recorded between 1988 and 1990, the vinyl features 12 tracks which chart the development of the band from early punk-influenced recordings through to the more death metal approach of the final session, including raw versions of classics such as "War Master" and "Drowned in Torment".

From the very earliest days of Earache Records, BBC National Radio's John Peel was a huge supporter of the Earache label and its extreme grindcore bands.  Peel first offered BOLT THROWER a session in 1988, and invited them back at the end of 1988 and again in 1990 to the hallowed Maida Vale studios to lay down some classic recordings.

London metallers SAVAGE MESSIAH are due to kick off a European tour tonight - Thursday, 15th January - supporting Swedish melodic death metal titans AMON AMARTH.

The 'Deceiver of the Gods' European tour starts off in Lille, France, then immediately heads to the UK for a two-week stint before returning to mainland Europe.  Also joining AMON AMARTH and SAVAGE MESSIAH are HUNTRESS.

SAVAGE MESSIAH frontman DAVE SILVER comments:
