KAGOULE TO PLAY THREE SHOWS IN ONE DAY THIS SATURDAY

Nottingham alt-rock trio KAGOULE will be showing their dedication to their fans this weekend as they gear up to play three shows in one day.

The band are stepping things up as the release of their highly-anticipated debut album, 'Urth', draws near, and while most bands wouldn't even attempt to play three separate gigs across two different cities in just one day, the hotly-tipped youngsters in KAGOULE are taking the challenge in stride.

The band comments: "We bring to you what the Magi brought to young Jesus.  Three gifts.  Three is the largest number still written with as many lines as the number represents."

SAVAGE MESSIAH CONFIRMED FOR BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL MAIN STAGE

London metallers SAVAGE MESSIAH have been confirmed for the Ronnie James Dio main stage at this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival, which takes place August 6th - August 9th at Catton Park in the UK.

Having already rocked the Bloodstock masses a number of times before, SAVAGE MESSIAH are this year moving up to the big leagues, joining the likes of TRIVIUM, NAPALM DEATH, OPETH, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and more on the main stage.  SAVAGE MESSIAH will be hitting the stage on Saturday, 8th August at 11:00am.

KAGOULE: LISTEN TO NEW SINGLE 'MADE OF CONCRETE'

As they prepare for the release of their debut album Urth, Nottingham’s KAGOULE have unveiled the new single ‘Made of Concrete’. Listen now at http://bit.ly/1JsmFZt. A more reflective track than previous singles ‘Glue’ and ‘Gush’, the ethereal ‘Made of Concrete’ sees bassist Lucy take lead vocals for a wistful and bittersweet performance.

Of the track, guitarist Cai says: “It came as a trapped sound in a Boss delay pedal box. Someone at the factory must’ve been humming in the right direction at the right time, the waves slipped through and the cardboard door sealed behind them. It journeyed over sea and land, benumbed by fear until I freed it from its torture and gave it a home (I think that's how sound works right?). It was one of the first songs I wrote for Kagoule. I think I was 15. After the initial 'Check out what this pedal can do' it hasn’t changed much, apart from the fact Lucy won the rights to sing it from me over a heated Beyblade tournament.”

Despite not yet being out of their teens, acclaim for the band has come from the likes of NME, The Guardian and Rolling Stone, plus great support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and XFM. Having previously shared stages with the likes of DRENGE, METZ, THE WYTCHES and ICEAGE, KAGOULE have just finished a series of dates with JOHNNY MARR and performed at Hyde Park alongside THE WHO.

BITERS RELEASE 'RESTLESS HEARTS' VIDEO FOLLOWING BRUSH WITH POLICE

Atlanta rock 'n' roll punks BITERS have released their edgy new music video for the track "Restless Hearts", which appears on their forthcoming debut album, 'Electric Blood'.

Filmed with director Video Rahim (MASTODON) on location in their hometown, the video for "Restless Hearts" sees BITERS pushing the limits of rock 'n' roll excess with a wild keg party, cruising the streets of Atlanta in a stolen police cruiser, and frontman Tuk surfing on the boot of a car whilst tearing down the road at 50mph.

Director Video Rahim discusses the band's run in with the law: "During the shoot, we mounted a camera to the front of a car to capture footage of Tuk and the band.  They drove off with the camera and shortly thereafter I received a call from Tuk saying he had been pulled over and thought he was going to jail.  I had to rush down and talk to the police officers to keep Tuk from being arrested."

"Standing on the trunk of a '70s Cadillac at 3am going 45-50mph and lip-synching while wearing Cuban heel boots was the best idea I've had in a long time," adds BITERS frontman Tuk.

KAGOULE PREMIERE 'GLUE' MUSIC VIDEO ON VEVO

Nottingham alt-rock trio KAGOULE have premiered their new music video for the track "Glue" on VEVO.

The medieval-themed video was filmed with director Katia Ganfield (VINCE KIDD, LOYLE CARNER, T?L?, VUVUVULTURES) at Rickney Farm and Grubbs Burgers in Brighton and sees the band donning an assortment of handmade vintage garments for a truly eye-catching performance.

KAGOULE singer/guitarist Cai Burns speaks about how the song came to be:

"Glue popped into existence on New Year's Day of 2014.  The frame of the song was sat as a garage band file called 'so damn stuck' and it was a troublesome little dude.  Refused to be written.  I'm not sure exactly where my mind was on January 1st but it definitely wasn't in my head.  The next day I noticed this weird guitar riff I'd added that must've bypassed my brain was sat on top of the verse.  I layered some sticky lyrics on top of it and it was born, covered in a thick, pale afterbirth.  Ready to be plated, garnished and served."

Video director Katia Ganfield comments:

"The video is open to interpretation.  Rather than spoon-feeding a narrative to the audience as many strains of media adopt today, the aim is to encourage the viewer to adopt an open mind, inspiring philosophical thinking and sociological awareness.

"Carefully structured symbolic visuals aim to depict a dystopian reality (and the breaking of) through the characters and locations, which tie in with the song's lyrics, emanating illusions of grandeur, embroiled in blissful denial.  The knight character serves as a metaphor for our disenchantment and increasing apathy towards the wider socio-political conditions at play.  His tedious nature, though surrounded by frivolous opulence, aims to represent the disengaged electorate."

Hotly tipped, rock n' roll rabble rousers, BITERS have announced their debut UK tour for September in support of the 7th August release of 'Electric Blood', their debut album for Earache Records. 

The band are already picking up supporters at UK media, with playlists on Planet Rock Radio and Team Rock for lead single, 'Restless Hearts', Kerrang! magazine dubbing them "electrifying punk n' roll" and Classic Rock magazine proclaiming "If anyone's going to bring the good times back, you'd do worse than to put your money on Biters," the future's looking bright for the Atlanta-based party starters.

EX-EVILE GUITARIST OL DRAKE: DEBUT SOLO ALBUM OUT NOW IN EUROPE

'Old Rake', the debut solo album from ex-EVILE guitarist Ol Drake, is out now in Europe.

Ol Drake's first solo project since leaving UK thrashers EVILE in 2013 showcases the six-string shredder's undeniable talent with nine tracks of instrumental guitar which encompass a myriad of styles, including flat-out shredding, classical, progressive, melodic and acoustic.

'Old Rake' was recorded with producer and former DEATH, TESTAMENT and OBITUARY guitarist James Murphy and features guest appearances from the likes of Murphy, Gary Holt (EXODUS, SLAYER), and Josh Middleton (SYLOSIS).  Drums on the entire album were performed by FEAR FACTORY sticksman Mike Heller.

'Old Rake' is available now on CD, with a number of limited edition signed CDs available while stocks last.  For anyone brave enough, there is also a deluxe 242-page tab book transcribed by Ol Drake himself and featuring full tablature for the entire album for both guitar and bass.

EX-EVILE GUITARIST OL DRAKE: FULL DEBUT ALBUM STREAMING NOW ON DEEZER

Ex-EVILE guitarist Ol Drake has teamed up with music streaming service Deezer for an exclusive pre-stream of his debut solo album, 'Old Rake'.

After leaving UK thrashers EVILE in 2013, Ol set to work on his first solo project, crafting an album which showcases the guitarists undeniable talent in a whole spectrum of styles, including flat-out shredding, classical, progressive, melodic and acoustic.

'Old Rake' was recorded with producer and former DEATH, TESTAMENT and OBITUARY guitarist James Murphy and features guest appearances from the likes of Murphy, Gary Holt (EXODUS, SLAYER) and Josh Middleton (SYLOSIS).  FEAR FACTORY sticksman Mike Heller performs drums on the entire album.

Former EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake has teamed up with Metal Hammer UK for the premiere of a brand new track, "Han Valen".

The first song on Ol Drake's debut solo album 'Old Rake' - and second track to be released following "Guitarists Playing Guitars" in April - "Han Valen" once again showcases the six-string shredder's wide range of influences and mind-boggling talent.  'Old Rake' is due to be released on June 22nd.

Ol Drake comments:

"Welcome to the first track on my solo album thing.  It is entitled 'Han Valen' for absolutely no reason and isn't implying anything at all.

"The intro which goes on for 7 years was written when I was about 16 while showing a friend of mine online (Hammy) how to tap on the guitar.  When it came to doing this album I thought it would make a cool addition.  With drums from Mike Heller (MALIGNANCY, FEAR FACTORY) and orchestration on the intro by Zino Von Hamersveld, it's definitely a song for guitarists to dig their teeth into.  If you want to learn how to play it, there is a guitar and bass tab and notation book available, notated by that me person.

Nottingham alt-rock trio KAGOULE have teamed up with NME for the premiere of their new single, "Glue".

"Glue popped into existence on New Year's Day of 2014.  The frame of the song was sat as a garage band file called 'so damn stuck' and it was a troublesome little dude.  Refused to be written.  I'm not sure exactly where my mind was on January 1st but it definitely wasn't in my head.  The next day I noticed this weird guitar riff I'd added that must've bypassed my brain was sat on top of the verse.  I layered some sticky lyrics on top of it and it was born, covered in a thick, pale afterbirth.  Ready to be plated, garnished and served."

BITERS NARROWLY AVOID ARREST FILMING 'RESTLESS HEARTS' MUSIC VIDEO

Atlanta rock 'n' roll punks BITERS have finished shooting a brand new music video for the track "Restless Hearts", which appears on their forthcoming debut album 'Electric Blood'.

Filmed with the band's long-time director Video Rahim (MASTODON) on location in their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia over a period of four days, the video for "Restless Hearts" spits in the face of safe, sanitised modern music and reminds viewers that hedonistic rock excess is still alive and kicking.

Director Video Rahim describes some of the high jinks which occurred:

"'Restless Hearts' is my fifth video with the Biters.  I love working with them because they trust me and allow me to be creative.  This video is their best yet because it pulls the viewer into the rock 'n' roll world of the Biters.

"During the shoot, we mounted a camera to the front of a car to capture footage of Tuk and the band.  They drove off with the camera and shortly thereafter I received a call from Tuk saying he had been pulled over and thought he was going to jail.  I had to rush down and talk to the police officers to keep Tuk from being arrested.

"Later that night we were filming in the back of the Cadillac, and he jumped on the trunk and started singing 'Restless Hearts' while it was going 45mph down the road.  It was a holiday weekend and cops were everywhere.  It was an incredible shot and too dangerous for most people to attempt to pull off.  It's also not something I would ask bands I work with to do on a music video shoot, but it's the kind of thing that naturally happens with the Biters.  I don't have to ask them to do these things.  I just make sure I'm there to capture it and make it worth while.  Working with the Biters is exciting because you never know what they are going to do next."

"The video is open to interpretation...  Rather than spoon-feeding a narrative to the audience as many strains of media adopt today, the aim is to encourage the viewer to adopt an open mind, inspiring philosophical thinking and sociological awareness.

"Carefully structured symbolic visuals aim to depict a dystopian reality (and the breaking of) through the characters and locations, which tie in with the song's lyrics, emanating illusions of grandeur, embroiled in blissful denial.  The Knight character serves as a metaphor for our disenchantment and increasing apathy towards the wider socio-political conditions at play.  His tedious nature, though surrounded by frivolous opulence, aims to represent the disengaged electorate."

RIVAL SONS ANNOUNCED AS SPECIAL GUESTS FOR DEEP PURPLE EUROPEAN TOUR

Long Beach, California's RIVAL SONS have been announced as special guests for a European tour with British rock legends DEEP PURPLE.

The tour follows an impressive list of achievements for RIVAL SONS, whose latest album, 'Great Western Valkyrie' stormed into the charts around the world on its release.  It was rated the number one album of 2014 by Classic Rock magazine in a year which also saw the band gain high-profile TV slots on Late Night with David Letterman and Later... with Jools Holland.

Former EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake has announced a warm-up show prior to his appearance at this year's Bloodstock festival in Derbyshire, UK.

The six-string shredder will be performing a headlining solo set on Saturday, 1st August at The Parish in his hometown of Huddersfield, a week before he rocks the Sophie Stage at Bloodstock in support of his debut solo album.

Ol Drake comments:

"A week before setting off to Bloodstock, I will be popping by my old local, The Parish in Huddersfield, to promote my debut solo album 'Old Rake', where I spent many a pound coin on their whiskey and fell down a lot.

EX-EVILE GUITARIST OL DRAKE RELEASES FIRST SINGLE FEATURING GARY HOLT, JAMES MURPHY & MORE; TABS ENTIRE ALBUM

Former EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake has released the first single from his upcoming debut solo album, 'Old Rake', which features instrumental guitar encompassing a myriad of styles, including flat-out shredding, classical, progressive, melodic and acoustic.  The album is due to be released on June 22nd in Europe and June 23rd in the USA.

The first track, "Guitarists Playing Guitars" - which made its debut last night on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter - showcases the six-string shredder's phenomenal fretwork and features special guest appearances from the likes of Gary Holt (EXODUS, SLAYER), James Murphy (DEATH, TESTAMENT, OBITUARY) and Josh Middleton (SYLOSIS).  Also featured is sticksman Mike Heller (FEAR FACTORY, MALIGNANCY), who performs drums on the entire album.

Ol Drake comments:

"Behold the first single from the already-rusty 'Old Rake'.  This song was written by trying to write the cheesiest riff possible and going from there.

"I was speaking to Gary Holt and he said he'd like to solo on the album, and it just happened that when he'd said that I'd reached the main 'solo section' in its writing process.  Then I Thought 'I might as well go all out'.  James got involved and I couldn't believe it; to have two of my idols from growing up on one of MY songs was mind-blowing.  I then asked my friend, Josh, from Sylosis, who is a ridiculous shredder, and my other friend, Amit.  I met Amit through his working at a metal magazine publication, but mainly from at festivals involving alcohol; ridiculous shredder, too!

"Do not take a full impression of the whole album from this song; every track is different.  Hope you enjoy my cheese-fest of 'Guitarists Playing Guitars'!"

MASSIVE PREMIERE 'GHOST' VIDEO ON KERRANG.COM

Aussie hard rockers MASSIVE have teamed up with Kerrang! for the premiere of their brand new music video for the track "Ghost".

KAGOULE ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM 'URTH', RELEASE 'GUSH' VIDEO

Nottingham's Kagoule have announced their long-awaited debut album Urth, due for release on August 21st 2015 via Earache Records. The prodigious teenagers have previously released a wealth of singles and are now ready to unleash a hugely impressive debut that not only belies their years, but proves they are one of the most exciting young bands in the UK.

Produced by Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys, M.I.A, The Fall) and Pete Fletcher (Childhood) Urth is an intense and forward-thinking listen from a band ready to step forward and shake things up. Despite their age, the band have formed a sound that is truly their own – dark, melodic, heavy and constantly evolving.

From guitarist Cai Burns' Dinosaur Jr-esque squall and fuzz, to Lucy Hatter’s rumbling bass and vocal harmonies through to Lawrence English’s unconventional and intuitive drumming, Urth is a fully realised, intelligent and cohesive debut. Opening with recent single ‘Gush’, the album takes the listener on an unbridled and hedonistic journey. The groove-laden ‘Glue’ bleeds into the off-kilter ‘Damp Sand’, while ‘Made of Concrete’s outwardly sweet appearance contradicts its darker themes. The energy of the punk inspired ‘Empty Mug’, featuring Lucy’s blood-curdling, screaming backing vocals, perfectly complements the soaring instrumental ‘Greenbeefo’. Closing on the positively anthemic ‘It Knows It’, Urth is a consistently powerful and memorable listen.

Producer Ross Orton says: "It's very rare on a wet and windy winter night in Sheffield you get blown away by the support band. Kagoule came saw and kicked my head off its shoulders, once I'd recovered and found my nerve I went over and demanded they let me into their world. That they did and sweet music was made. Kagoule are a mind bending band with infectiously catchy tunes. An honour to have them in my studio."

Having already amassed over 230,000 plays on Soundcloud with ‘Gush’, Kagoule have just unveiled it’s bizarre and inventive video, which can now be viewed on YouTube. Of the video, singer and guitarist Cai Burrns says: “We saw a video of this guy in Brighton with telekinetic abilities. After many nights of searching we tracked him down to the dark, back table of the Hobgoblin pub. We sang our praise and asked him to teach us the ways of the TK. He stood, put his cold hands on our shoulders and admitted that it was only camera trickery. We had been fooled. Our heads hung in silence, until Lucy blurted “Camera trickery? We could well do with a bit of that. We’ve only got a few days to make a new video” His eyes lit up and a broad smile crawled up his face. Grabbing us by the hands he sprinted for the door, dragging us along behind him.”

The band have consistently impressed live, sharing stages with acts including The Wytches, Iceage, METZ, Sebadoh and Drenge, as well as performing at Glastonbury Festival for BBC Introducing. As well as amassing a dedicated fanbase, they have been critically lauded by the likes of Rolling Stone, NME, Guardian, while receiving plays from the likes of BBC Radio 6Music and BBC Radio 1.

SAVAGE MESSIAH TO HEADLINE HARD ROCK & METAL COALITION AT GREAT ESCAPE FESTIVAL

London metallers SAVAGE MESSIAH have been confirmed as headliners for the "Hard Rock & Metal Coalition" at The Great Escape festival 2015.

Presented by AIM and Team Rock, the Hard Rock & Metal Coalition will showcase some of the UK independent sector's finest heavy bands.  The gig takes place at Volks Bar in Brighton on Friday, 15th May, and features UK bands ELEGIES, THE COLOUR LINE, PRESS TO MECO, ACODA, and headliners SAVAGE MESSIAH.  Entry is free for everyone with a TGE wristband.

BITERS SIGN WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH EARACHE RECORDS

Atlanta rock 'n' roll tearaways Biters have announced a worldwide recording deal with Earache Records.

Recalling the early spirit and danger of rabble-rousing rock heroes, Biters have faithfully built upon their punk heritage and their love of 70’s rock to deliver music that ignites, incites and excites in equal measure.

Possessing a heart full of rock 'n' roll, the band play foot stomping, fist pumping, spit-on-the-floor anthems possessed of a fighting spirit that refuses to give in.

Band leader Tuk explains the band's outlook:

"Corporate pop culture and fairweather fads is just something I'm not interested in. I still choose to play rock ‘n’ roll, because I still believe in rock ‘n’ roll."
