Mortiis to release Remix album on Earache 16 April

MORTIIS TO RELEASE REMIX ALBUM 'SOME KIND OF HEROIN'

Industrial Goth enigma Mortiis is set to release a remix album titled 'Some Kind of Heroin', reworking material from 'The Grudge', on April 16, via Earache Records.
For much of Mortiis' career, the striking visual aspect combined with his rapid musical evolution has become a subject of much urban legend over the years. And yet over a series of progressively more ambitious albums, Mortiis has morphed into a band unit that has become known for aggressive live shows and ambitious records, and has spawned two Top 50 UK singles.

In keeping with the rapidly developing nature of the music and the direction of the band, 'Some Kind of Heroin' offers diverse remix material including interpretations by a wide range of contemporaries, such as Zombie Girl, Gothminister, Implant, XP8, Mental Siege, PIG, The Kovenant, Velvet Acid Christ, Girls Under Glass, David Wallace, Kubrick, Funker Vogt, Flesh Field, Dope Stars and In the Nursery.

Mortiis states: "I´m really stoked we finally got to do a remix album and since it's been in process for quite some time now I'm happy to be able to finally release it.
I've always been fascinated with taking songs and twisting them into something different, the ability to grab the elements you like and put them into a totally different environment. The flexibility of that really appeals to me.

I think the mixes all those guys did came out really cool, many of them vastly different from what would have come out of the studio if I had done them. It's cool to see what happens when you let other people inside your head, so to speak. I think the variety of mixers and sonic realms created here will appeal to a large variety of people."

Track listing for 'Some Kind of Heroin' is as follows:
01. Underdog (Zombie Girl Remix)
02. The Grudge (Gothminister mix)
03. Twist The Knife (The Gibbering mix by Implant)
04. Broken Skin feat. Stephan Groth (Septic Wound mix by XP8)

DEICIDE CONFIRM FORTHCOMING DATES IN MEXICO AND COSTA RICA DESPITE CURRENT CONTROVERSY

DEICIDE CONFIRM FORTHCOMING DATES IN MEXICO AND COSTA RICA DESPITE CURRENT CONTROVERSY

Death metal stalwarts DEICIDE have confirmed March tour dates in Mexico and Costa Rica, despite current backlash from members of the Costa Rican churches and community surrounding the venue. Monsignor Jose Francisco Ulloa, president of the Episcopal Conference and bishop of Carthage, has openly spoken out against DEICIDE’S visit to Costa Rica and has called on the community to aid in shutting down the show. The monsignor stated on America Radio that “ We cannot admit a group like this to be allowed in communities as these. I believe that the town has the right to reject all that. I believe that as much the municipality, as well as other communal organizations, look at the 10 of March to be united in the movement to avoid that presentation that goes by that diabolic line.” A few locals have replied to this call with thoughtful and open-minded remarks, confirming that it should be the right of organizers to put on whatever concerts th ey want to despite the artists’ ideology. Unscathed, promoters confirm that the show will go on and DEICIDE will come to Costa Rica after a string of dates in Mexico. DEICIDE have also released “Doomsday LA,” a live DVD featuring the all-new lineup and packed with bonus music videos for “Homage for Satan” and “Desecration.” Log on to the US and UK Web stores to get your copy of ”Doomsday LA” today!

NAPALM DEATH "Scum 20th Anniversary edition dual disc" DVD Trailer online

2007 marks the 20th Anniversary of the release of the Napalm Death legendary
debut album 'Scum'.

To mark the birth of grindcore and the landmark release of one of the most
confrontational records ever released, Earache Records is issuing a special
20th Anniversary Edition Dual Disc of 'Scum' containing the original album
and a DVD documentary highlighting the early days of the band and examining
the story behind the album and its explosive impact on the wider music
scene. Original member Mick Harris talks in depth about the scene at the
time, the band's origins and takes a tour to the old band haunts along the
way.

The documetary also features an interview with Mark Titchner, the
Turner Prize nominee, amongst others, who explains the aesthetic angles to
Napalm Death's revolutionary noise.

When 'Scum' was first released in 1987 DJ John Peel was one of the first to
pick up on the band's mix of hardcore punk, metal riffs and blistering
speed. Redefining what it was to be a heavy band, Napalm Death soon shot to
fame on the back of NME cover stories, BBC2 documentaries and the polarised
opinion of the larger music community.

'Scum' has since become an acknowledged influence on every extreme metal
band since the late 80's.

See a trailer for the documentary on the Earache myspace page
www.myspace.com/earacherecords

'Scum 20th Anniversary Edition Dual Disc' will be released on March 19th
through Earache records.
