WOODS OF YPRES TO EMBARK ON NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

The Canadian blackened doom merchants, WOODS OF YPRES have lined up a North American tour in support of the EARACHE reissue of the their acclaimed 2009 effort, WOODS IV: THE GREEN ALBUM. This will be WOODS OF YPRES' first full-on tour since mainman David Gold got back from a teaching stint in Kuwait.

Back on the road where he belongs, David checked in to say a few words about his anticipation for the tour

"It's perfect!  W4: The Green Album was always intended to be a "spring" album centred around themes of rain, renewal, reinvention and recycling of the soul and here we are at the dirty end of winter 2011, having The Green Album re-released on Earache Records and touring the east coast in the very green and hopeful but yet typically still cold and cloudy month of March. It'll include a special green beer St. Patrick's Day show in Worcester and a long awaited return to celtic-flavoured Eastern Canada!  So pack a cheap umbrella of which you can plan to get drunk and forget at the venue because us bad-luck-fucks are bringing our no-leaf-clover doom and gloom to your town this March with the black cloud-still-a-followin' over our heads. Even though we've got nothin' left to lose and no other purpose left in life but to exhibit our cathartic recklessness for your entertainment. 

We knew what love was and now, we also know how to be cruel.  A WOODS OF YPRES show is a heavy, heaving slab of both.  It's poison-medicine for both hardworking modern minds who've just given up on their dreams and fellow bleeding fucking hearts who no longer give a shit. The band are due to do a last run of shows in support of their latest album, TALES FROM THE GRAVE IN SPACE, before taking a break to work on new material.

EVILE GUITARIST FEATURED ON NEW DESTRUCTION ALBUM

OL DRAKE, lead guitarist for British thrashers EVILE, is featured as a guest musician on the new album from German thrash legends DESTRUCTION.

OL DRAKE had previously filled in for DESTRUCTION guitarist MIKE SIFRINGER in 2009 at Portugal's Caos Emergente festival, after SIFRINGER broke a finger on his left hand.  DRAKE was asked to join the German thrashers in the studio to play some solos and harmonies on the new DESTRUCTION release, titled DAY OF RECKONING.

OL DRAKE comments:

"Just got a package through the mail from sir Schmier, which contained the newest Destruction album, "Day of Reckoning".  I had the huge honour of doing a few guest solos and harmonies on the album, as well as on their awesome cover of Dio's "Stand Up and Shout" (which is one of my favourite Dio tracks!).  To fly over there, do some recording, backing vocals and hang out with Mike and Schmier again was an experience I'll never forget.

"Being a big Destruction fan, I can't put into words how unbelievable it is, and was, to be a part of the album.  Also, with being a Destruction fan, I can safely say this is one of the best albums they've done in a long time (no, not because I'm on it... Well, a little haha).  Our old bassist, Mike, was a huge Destruction fan, so I really hope he'd be proud.  I remember when I told him I'd be standing in on guitar for Destruction's Mike at a show in Portugal; he simply called me a "bastard".  I think he was more excited than I was haha.  Long live Destruction!"

EVILE GUITARIST THANKS FANS FOR JOINING ROCK BAND 'GAME WITH FAME' EVENT

British thrashers EVILE are currently being honoured as February's "Artist of the Month" on the Rock Band Network - the online home of the multi-million selling hit video game Rock Band.

The band's lead guitarist, OL DRAKE, was also the latest artist to be spotlighted in the Xbox LIVE "Game with Fame" program, challenging fans from all over the world to jump on Rock Band 3 and tear through the latest tracks with him online.

OL DRAKE comments:

"Last night I sat down on my Xbox to play 3 hours of Rock Band 3 with fans of Evile and the game alike.  I had an awesome time chatting to people and rocking out to songs on the game.  The main songs I seemed to be playing were "Thrasher" by Evile (argh, my wrist), "Caught in a Mosh" by Anthrax, "Crazy Train" by Ozzy, "Ride the Lightning" by Metallica and more.  Many people were playing on Expert, which was amazing to see (when I had time to glance over to the other side of the screen), as I can only play on Hard.  I found myself saying "wow, you're a bit good at this" more than a few times.

"I want to say sorry to the people I wasn't able to get around to playing; there's only so many game invites I can accept/give out within 3 hours and 100+ people trying to play.  But I also want to say thank you to all the people I did get to play.  Thank you for being so cool with me and making it a fun experience.  Cheers to Microsoft and Harmonix!"

SSS POST RECORDING UPDATE, REVEAL NEW ALBUM TITLE

British crossover thrashers SSS are returning to the studio to finish recording their forthcoming new album, titled PROBLEMS TO THE ANSWER.

SSS started work on the new album shortly before Christmas and have now returned from a break to wrap up what will be the band's third full-length release.

SSS have posted the following update:

"We're back!  Had to knock things on the head for a bit, but we've opened up shop again.  Finishing the lyrics to the last few songs then next week we record some vocals with a special guest star!  We finish recording the LP on March 1st/2nd, then mix for four days from the 4th March, then we're DONE!  Release date to be confirmed, but we're looking at June/July.  Looking forward to getting out again and touring.  If you want us to play in your town, let us know."

PROBLEMS TO THE ANSWER is being recorded at Whitewood Studios in the band's hometown of Liverpool and is being produced by ROB WHITELEY and SSS bassist MARK MAGILL.

MUNICIPAL WASTE EXCITED FOR SCION ROCK FEST APPEARANCE

MUNICIPAL WASTE will be taking part in this year's annual Scion Rock Fest, Saturday March 5th in Pomona, CA. The Waste will be a headliner at the Glass House show which also features veteran bands DEATH ANGEL, IMMOLATION, ATHIEST, BONDED BY BLOOD and more. Frontman, Tony Foresta has written up a brief update about the eagerly awaited Scion Fest and other things going on in the world of MUNICIPAL WASTE:

"We've been taking a break from touring since our last run through Europe in December. We feel its much deserved after many years of relentless touring and gigging all over the place. Now were just hanging around with our friends and families jamming with our other bands and writing new Waste songs. We're in the early stages of writing a new album about 5 songs deep and are planning to play very few gigs this year.

The stuff we do have scheduled is pretty exciting --the Scion Fest in California with Morbid Angel, Bastard Noise, Death Angel and Integrity as well as many others is one of those gigs. I'm pretty stoked about all the bands especially Integrity. I used to be scared of that Dwid guy when I was younger Haha. Morbid Angel is great too and Death Angel is one of the best live thrash bands I've ever seen.

What I'm really hopping to transpire out of that weekend is for Scion to give The Waste some cars. That would be really nice of them huh? Even just one car that all of the Waste members can share. I can get behind that. I wouldn't mind Dave driving me around to get groceries every once in a while. I mean cmon we've been doing videos, gigs and all sorts of whoring ourselves out for them for a while now and I just figure its about time Toyota steps it up a notch and hooks a brotha up with some wheels. Hell I'll even take one of those funky boxy looking ones. I mean think about how pissed off Jay Randell would be if he looks out the window and see's the Waste rolling by in a fleet of free and luxurious Scion xB's. He will Tweet so hard about that. Shit they should just hook us up for that idea alone. What was I talking about again? Oh yeah that Fest in California. So were going to play that. I'm going to headwalk during Systems Overload."

EVILE COMPLETE UK TOUR; GUITARIST TO PLAY FANS ON ROCK BAND 3 TONIGHT

British thrashers EVILE have completed a UK headlining tour - the band's first shows on their home soil since spending months on the road in North America in 2010.

EVILE played five shows around the UK with support from fellow British thrashers ELIMINATION and MUTANT.  The band are next scheduled to perform in the UK at Hammerfest in Prestatyn on March 19th.

EVILE lead guitarist OL DRAKE looks back on the UK shows:

"Just got back from our short headline tour of the UK.  We had a great time and it was a very successful run.  Thank you to every single person who came out and supported Evile and all the other bands!  I've never seen so many people running/flying towards me whilst I'm playing.  It's very, very difficult to play our songs whilst watching for bodies flying towards you."

RIVAL SONS TO APPEAR LIVE ON TOTALROCK TONIGHT

Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS are in the UK and are set to appear live as special guests on TotalRock radio tonight (Monday, 14th February) from 6:00pm - 9:00pm UK time.

RIVAL SONS performed their first ever show in the UK on Saturday, headlining HMV's Next Big Thing event at the Camden Barfly and selling out the show in advance.

RIVAL SONS SELL OUT DEBUT UK SHOW IN ADVANCE

Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS have sold out their first ever UK show, which takes place tomorrow - Saturday, 12th February - at the Barfly in London.

RIVAL SONS were hotly tipped by Classic Rock magazine as "ones to watch" in 2011 and have already played with the likes of AC/DC, as well as recently performing at the GENE SIMMONS-hosted 'Aces & Angels' Super Bowl week kick-off event.  Now, by selling out their debut UK gig, RIVAL SONS have marked yet another milestone in the young band's quest to conquer the world of rock.

RIVAL SONS' first gig on British soil is part of HMV's Next Big Thing music festival tour, which features the best up-and-coming bands and artists as chosen by HMV themselves.  Performing alongside RIVAL SONS at the show will be VINTAGE TROUBLE and SONS OF ICARUS.

THE BROWNING, a four-piece from Dallas, Texas who fuse deathcore with electronic music, have posted a video update in the run-up to the recording of their new album.

EVILE UK HEADLINING TOUR STARTS TODAY

Following months of touring in North America to round off 2010, British thrashers EVILE are back on the road in their homeland as they kick off a five-date headlining UK tour.
