British thrashers EVILE, death metallers CEREBRAL BORE and heavy metal maestros SAVAGE MESSIAH are gearing up for a night of metal mayhem as part of HMV's Next Big Thing tour.
HMV's Next Big Thing showcases and celebrates the very best in new and emerging talent, with EVILE, CEREBRAL BORE and SAVAGE MESSIAH teaming up for a one-off show on Saturday, 11th February at the HMV Ritz in Manchester.
The show is open to ages 14+ and tickets for this unmissable event cost just £10, with no booking fee charged.

DIAMOND PLATE TO SUPPORT ANTHRAX ON FIRST EVER UK SHOWS
Chicago thrashers DIAMOND PLATE have confirmed three UK shows, marking the first time ever that the band will have played outside of North America.
DIAMOND PLATE are due to support thrash metal legends ANTHRAX at two special shows in March in London and Oxford, followed by a main stage slot at Hammerfest in Wales.
DIAMOND PLATE lead guitarist KONRAD KUPIEC comments:
"We couldn't be more honored to announce that our first UK appearances will be supporting the legendary Anthrax. Playing in the UK and playing with one of our biggest idols seemed like two separate goals this early in our careers; to see them happen together so soon is almost surreal and we're excited as hell.
"Following two shows with Anthrax, we'll be taking part in Hammerfest, and this will mark our first festival performance ever. We'll be sharing the stage once again with Anthrax, in addition to Exodus, Chimaira, our labelmates Evile, and many more. These will be the biggest shows we have played yet, and hope these shows serve as a sign of bigger things to come for Diamond Plate in 2012!"

WORMROT PREPARE TO KICK OFF INDONESIAN TOUR TOMORROW
Singaporean grindcore trio WORMROT are gearing up for a headlining Indonesian tour, which kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, 14th January, in Bekasi.
The band will be tearing their way around Indonesia for two weeks, on what will be their first tour of 2012.

RIVAL SONS PREPARE TO KICK OFF U.S. TOUR WITH EVANESCENCE
Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS are preparing to kick off a US tour with gothic rockers EVANESCENCE tomorrow, Friday, January 13th in Clemson, South Carolina.
Having already joined EVANESCENCE on the road in October last year, RIVAL SONS are pleased to be teaming up with the band once again for the 2012 tour, which also features ELECTRIC TOUCH.
RIVAL SONS guitarist SCOTT HOLIDAY comments:
"Our friends in Evanescence have graciously invited us to come back out on the road with them again. This time it's a quick run through the south. Not only are we happy to be joining back up with them, we are really stoked to be finally returning to the south after such a long time.

SLEEP TO SUPPORT SLAYER IN LONDON AT "I'LL BE YOUR MIRROR" FESTIVAL
Reactivated Californian stoner doom metal group SLEEP have been confirmed to play at All Tomorrow's Parties' "I'll Be Your Mirror" festival in London, UK on Friday, 25th May.
The legendary rockers will be supporting thrash giants SLAYER on the first day of the festival, which also features performances from MELVINS, WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, YOB and more.

SLEEP formed in 1990 and helped define the term "stoner rock" with the release of SLEEP'S HOLY MOUNTAIN in 1992, going on to earn legendary status and exerting a strong influence on heavy metal in the '90s. The band split in 1995, with members going on to form OM and HIGH ON FIRE, before reuniting in 2009.
To celebrate the band's return, SLEEP'S HOLY MOUNTAIN was reissued on limited edition digipak CD, including a bonus BLACK SABBATH cover track and a bonus music video for the song, "Dragonaut".

WORMROT ARRESTED IN KUALA LUMPUR DURING NEW YEAR'S EVE HOTEL RAID
Singaporean grindcore trio WORMROT were arrested in the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the night of New Year's Eve, following a successful performance at the Rumah Api venue with ASILENT.
The bands had returned to their hotel after the show to get some rest, when their room was raided by the local state's religious department, and the group was arrested and taken to the local police station.
WORMROT have released the following statement:
"New Year's Eve show in Kuala Lumpur was AWESOME!!! Thought we could rest after the show before heading back to Singapore the next day... SO WRONG. We were detained in two police stations for two hours since 3am by the JAIS - Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (Selangor Islamic Religious Department) after they raided the hotel we were staying at, because of the Islamic law stating that unmarried Muslim men and women are not allowed to be in one room. There were seven of us (four boys and three girls) in that room getting ready to chill downstairs at the lobby... They tried to fine us 3000RM ($950 USD) each as well if our organizer didn't call his lawyer, bail us out and the fact that we are foreigners. All I can say is, AWESOME show, great food, and being detained in the police station... Damn! What a way to start 2012!"
Despite the unfortunate incident, WORMROT hold no grudges against Islam and still love the Malaysian metal scene and fans;
"Please do not think badly of the religion. Every religion is peaceful. In every religion, there's always some people who are extremists. Don't condemn the religion just because of these jokers. Multi-racial, multi-culture with the same interest - music."

CEREBRAL BORE CONFIRM NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH GOATWHORE & HATE ETERNAL
Scottish death metallers CEREBRAL BORE have confirmed a North American tour with GOATWHORE and HATE ETERNAL, plus FALLUJAH.
With a number of US tours already under their belt, CEREBRAL BORE will be crossing the atlantic once again next month, kicking off the trek on February 19th in Houston, Texas. The tour will also include the band's first ever performances in Canada.
CEREBRAL BORE guitarist PAUL MCGUIRE comments:
"I'm chuffed to be going back to the states so soon! Last summer was great, but to go back on tour with the likes of Hate Eternal is a big milestone for us as a band. I booked our previous US tours on my own, and they were a success, but to go on a US tour that I had no part in booking is a new experience for me.
"I also can't believe that we will be playing at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood; I actually went out of my way just to get a photo outside that venue when we were there last year. And on top of this, we get to tour in Canada for the first time! We have always wanted to play Canada, and to play there for the first time opening for Hate Eternal is maximum beastage!"

WOODS OF YPRES STATEMENT ON DAVID GOLD'S DEATH
Woods of Ypres frontman David Gold was tragically killed in a road traffic accident on 21st December, outside Barrie, in his home country of Canada.
In accordance with the wishes of David's family and band mates, the recently completed album "Woods V: Grey Skies & Electric Light" will be released, as planned in February.
The Gold family issued a statement for David's friends and fans as follows:
"The Gold family is incredibly saddened in the wake of David's sudden passing. We want to thank everyone for the ongoing outpour of support, as it is greatly appreciated. Although he was only 31 years old, David lived more than most would be able to in an entire lifetime. He was well educated, well travelled, incredibly talented, passionate, compassionate, and loved dearly by thousands of friends, family, and fans all over the world. David's legacy will not only live on, but continue to grow. We ask you to keep David's spirit alive by continuing to listen to his music, and let him inspire your life."

"I am completely shocked and utterly at a loss for words about David's passing. I write this with a very heavy heart, and I can only imagine what David's family is going through, as well as the rest of his friends. My heart goes out to them all.
This tragedy comes at a truly inopportune time for Woods of Ypres, though there is never an opportune time for these things to happen. We'd booked to tour Europe in support of Woods 5, we'd recruited the talented Rae Amitay and Brendan Hayter, and we were only waiting for January rehearsals before setting off. We had an exciting album to play and exciting places to play it.
It's hard to say what is next for Woods. David was unequivocally the voice, heart, and soul of the band. In the last year or so David and I planned out many projects for Woods of Ypres in great detail. It would be a shame for none of them to come to fruition, and David would have wanted his fans to hear them. So I will examine these, discuss them with Earache, and endeavour to complete what can be completed given the circumstances. David was always and still is the essence of Woods of Ypres. So if and when any Woods projects come to light, it will be with this fact firmly and unwaveringly in mind.
For the present time my immediate task is to promote and release Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light. We finished the audio portion in August at Beach Road Studios, and David D'Angelo finished the stunning album art last month. All that remains is press and promotion for the album. And I'm more than willing to do my own share as well as David's, with the same passion, enthusiasm, and good humor David would have had. So please direct any interviews to me, and I will be thrilled to answer questions.
It was an honour to have worked with David, an honour to have shared the stage with him, and an honour to have spent a summer writing and recording with him. He was an extremely talented, driven, and generous man. He will be sorely missed."

Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS have confirmed a new US tour with gothic rockers EVANESCENCE, which is scheduled to kick off on January 13th in Clemson, South Carolina.
RIVAL SONS already joined EVANESCENCE on a North American tour in October this year, before they headed to Europe for a hugely successful headlining tour. The two bands will team up again for the week-long trek in January, which also features ELECTRIC TOUCH.
RIVAL SONS drummer MICHAEL MILEY comments:

EVILE TO HEADLINE 'HMV NEXT BIG THING' EVENT IN FEBRUARY
British thrashers EVILE are due to headline a night of metal mayhem on February 11th, 2012, during HMV's third annual Next Big Thing music festival tour.
HMV's Next Big Thing tour takes place at nine venues across the UK and celebrates the very best in new and emerging talent, drawn from all genres of music, with performances from bands and artists who are tipped to make it big in the coming year.
EVILE are set to perform at the HMV Ritz in Manchester, UK on February 11th, 2012. Joining them will be CEREBRAL BORE, SAVAGE MESSIAH and WOODS OF YPRES.
EVILE drummer BEN CARTER comments:
"Evile are pleased to announce we will be returning to Manchester to headline HMV's Next Big Thing on Saturday, February the 11th, 2012! The gig will be at the HMV Ritz, and we'll be playing alongside such great bands (and labelmates) as Cerebral Bore, Savage Messiah and Woods of Ypres. THE SOULLESS KICK OFF UK TOUR WITH BURY TOMORROW TONIGHT
Modern UK metallers THE SOULLESS (formerly IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION) are due to kick off a UK tour tonight at The Croft in Bristol.
The band will be joining British metalcore act BURY TOMORROW for the shows, which will be THE SOULLESS' last of the year.

RIVAL SONS TO PERFORM SECRET ACOUSTIC GIG AT LONDON ST. PANCRAS AT 6:30PM TODAY
Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS are due to play a secret acoustic gig today, Thursday, 8th December at St. Pancras International in London, UK as part of the Station Sessions Secret Season in support of housing and homeless charity, Shelter.
The band, who have just wrapped up a hugely successful European headlining tour, will be performing during rush hour at 6:30pm in the station's busy Arcade, in front of the giant LEGO tree. Supporting RIVAL SONS will be London-based singer-songwriter, IMAN. The event is free of charge, but donations will be encouraged, with all proceeds going to Shelter.
The secret show is due to take place right before RIVAL SONS perform a special end-of-tour show at Nambucca in London for their UK fans. Tickets for the show cost just £10 in advance and are available now, while supplies last, at http://bit.ly/uu0eMm

"This was our second time touring Europe and also our first headlining tour here and 95% of it sold out. It was such a pleasure to meet the audience every night after the show; thank you Europe.

EARACHE RECORDS PRESENTS HMV'S NEXT BIG THING 2012: EVILE, CEREBRAL BORE, SAVAGE MESSIAH & WOODS OF YPRES
Earache Records is pleased to announce its very own evening of metal mayhem at HMV's third annual Next Big Thing music festival tour in 2012.
HMV's Next Big Thing showcases and celebrates the very best in new and emerging talent, drawn from all genres across the music spectrum, who are tipped to make it big in the coming year. This year's event saw 140 breakthrough artists performing live, including fast-rising blues-rockers RIVAL SONS, who returned to the UK later in the year for a completely sold out headlining tour.
The third HMV Next Big Thing festival will run over 11 days between 2nd and 12th February, 2012, at nine venues across the UK, including for the first time ever, Manchester's HMV Ritz, where Earache Records will be presenting a night of live music from some of the best new and breakthrough metal bands around.
The Earache Records HMV Next Big Thing event takes place on Saturday, 11th February, with performances from EVILE, CEREBRAL BORE, SAVAGE MESSIAH and WOODS OF YPRES.

CEREBRAL BORE KICK OFF MINI UK TOUR TONIGHT
Scottish death metallers CEREBRAL BORE are due to kick off a mini UK tour tonight, Thursday, December 1st, at The Borough in Sunderland.
The four-date mini tour marks the last shows that CEREBRAL BORE will play this year, before returning in full force in 2012. Joining CEREBRAL BORE on the road are SCORDATURA and LACERATION.
CEREBRAL BORE guitarist PAUL MCGUIRE comments:
"This is our last tour of 2011 and it's great to do it alongside a couple of up-and-coming Scottish bands. It's usually pretty hellish touring at this time of year in a shit van, sleeping on floors and dealing with the freezing wet weather. But we will bring the metal regardless, and hopefully the other bands will supply some good local banter and keep the spirits up."

Texan electronic metallers THE BROWNING, who recently released their debut album, BURN THIS WORLD, are due to kick off a US tour tonight, Wednesday, November 30th, with North Carolina's WRETCHED.

EARACHE ANNOUNCES EXTREME STAGE DIVING APP WINNER; STILL OFFERING FREE APPS
In November 2010, Earache Records released EARACHE EXTREME STAGE DIVING, a completely free and highly-addictive app for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad in which players throw a stage diver off a festival stage and as far into the riotous crowd as possible while rocking out to a raging metal soundtrack.
One year on and gamers and music fans all over the world have thrown the notorious stage diver hundreds of thousands of metres in their quest to reach the top of the leaderboard.
There can only be one reigning champion however, and Earache is pleased to officially announce the Most Extreme Stage Diver as Charles Thompson Moodie from Burnham, England, who managed to throw his stage diver a staggering 25,855 metres.
Earache caught up with Charles to present him with the Extreme Stage Diving trophy and to talk about his achievement.
Earache: Please name your favourite bands.
Charles: "So many! The Haunted, At The Gates, Hate Eternal, Slayer, 1349, Nile, Motorhead, Pombagira, Slabdragger, Bathory, Satyricon, Deicide, Shining and many more."
Earache: When did you first stage dive (in real life and in the app)?
Charles: "Never stage dived in real life, done many bungee jumps though! I downloaded and played the game within one month of the app being released."
Earache: You are the highest score holder on the Earache Extreme Stage Diving app - please tell us the story of how this happened.
Charles: "Well, I kept on trying and trying to beat my best score every time. At first I struggled to beat 300m; I wondered if I'd get past 500m but eventually I did and that was a great feeling. I kept trying different techniques on the screen - speed, angle and pattern of movement, plus releasing the throw. Soon I hit over 1,000m and couldn't believe I'd done it but I had. And it was so rewarding to see the stage diver fly through the air, counting the metres onscreen before he slowly fell back to earth with a bang. Then I hit over 4,000m, unbelievable! And quite soon after that, it went to over 11,000m, unreal!
"The technique was working; just the right pattern, speed and angle. It felt right and I knew I could go further still. One day at work lunchtime I was giving it another go and, would you believe it, I went more than double my previous best. To watch the stage diver flying through the air for what must have been a good seven or so minutes was amazing. He slowly and eventually landed and I'd chalked up and incredible 25,855m, yes!!!!! That really made my day and nobody has beaten it so far. I think it'll stay top for some time; maybe it'll never be beaten. I've tried topping it but so far no joy."
Earache: How has your life changed since you became the Earache Extreme Stage Diving Champion?
Charles: "I've managed to keep both feet on the ground, but I do think about it most days. It's a good feeling to know I'm number one, King of all Kings!"
Earache: What are your thoughts on the banning of stage diving at gigs and festivals?
Charles: "Killjoys! Most extreme one I've seen was Slayer, Warfield, February 2002. Four guys chased one guy out of the pit and knocked me over. I was fine, but my friend who 'played it safe' in the Circle upstairs ended up with a boot mark on his head from a crowd surfer."
Earache: Now you are Champion of the Earache Extreme Stage Diving app, what will you conquer next?
Charles: "Mount Everest? Maybe. I've done the 3 Peaks Challenge, fire walking, sky diving and many other pursuits, mostly for charity. I'd love to walk the Great Wall of China and do a wing walk, for charity of course."
Earache: What is your advice to novice stage divers and Earache Extreme Stage Diving enthusiasts?
Charles: "If at first you don't succeed, don't give up. There is a technique; I don't get it right each time, every time. But when you do hit the sweet spot, it's very satisfying!"

Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS have confirmed a 2012 UK tour with Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY.
Currently on the road in Europe on their own headlining tour, RIVAL SONS will be crossing the Atlantic once again in 2012 for the UK tour with BLACK STONE CHERRY, which kicks off on March 11th in Norwich.

CEREBRAL BORE CONFIRMED FOR UK'S HAMMERFEST
Scottish death metalers CEREBRAL BORE have been confirmed for next year's Hammerfest at Pontins in Prestatyn, UK, which takes place from March 15th - 18th, 2012.
CEREBRAL BORE are among the latest groups to be confirmed for the festival, joining the likes of ANTHRAX, SKINDRED, EXODUS, AMON AMARTH, LAWNMOWER DETH and more. The band will be performing on Saturday, March 17th at 14:00 on the Second Stage.
