British thrashers EVILE have recorded a special cover version of NIRVANA's song "Lounge Act" from their legendary 1991 album NEVERMIND, as part of Kerrang! magazine's special anniversary issue to commemorate 20 years since the release of the album.
EVILE were among fourteen bands who were asked to record a cover version of one of the tracks from NEVERMIND, and the band were more than pleased to leave their mark on "Lounge Act".
EVILE lead guitarist OL DRAKE comments:
"So the cat is out of the bag; Evile have covered 'Lounge Act' by Nirvana for Kerrang's upcoming anniversary issue of the 'Nevermind' album. When we got the offer all I could see was fun to be had, and what an honour it was to be included. I was a big fan of Nirvana when I was a young teen, so it's an extra honour in that way for me.
"I wondered what we could do to the track to make it our own, so we approached it like we would one of our own songs. That bass riff is brilliant and I wanted to make it more a core element of the track guitar-wise and just metal it up in general. I wanted to respect the approach of the song but also alter Kurt's chord approach to a style more suited to Evile, and that's a chug-athon! Hope you all enjoy it; we definitely do. Cheers to James McMahon and all at Kerrang!"
The commemorative NEVERMIND covers album is included free with this week's Kerrang! magazine in the UK, which is available in shops now.

WHITE WIZZARD RELEASE NEW TRACK "FIGHT TO THE DEATH"
Los Angeles modern-day heavy metal act WHITE WIZZARD have released a brand new track from their highly-anticipated new album, FLYING TIGERS, which is out now in Europe.
The new track, titled "Fight to the Death", showcases WHITE WIZZARD's traditional sound with galloping riffs, soaring vocals and a pure heavy metal atmosphere. The new song and album feature vocalist WYATT ANDERSON, who also sang on the band's debut album, OVER THE TOP. The band are slated to shoot a music video for the track in the near future.

WHITE WIZZARD "FLYING TIGERS" OUT NOW IN EUROPE

British thrashers EVILE recently took part in a recording session for Xfm Radio, which is due to be aired this Saturday, September 17th.
EVILE recorded special live versions of four of their tracks at the Xfm studio, including two from the band's highly-anticipated new album, FIVE SERPENT'S TEETH. The tracks - "We Who Are About To Die", "Infected Nation", "Cult" and "Eternal Empire" - are due to be broadcast on the Xfm Rock Show with Ian Camfield this Saturday night from 10:00pm until 2:00am UK time.

WHITE WIZZARD MAINMAN DISCUSSES APPROACH TO WRITING 'FLYING TIGERS'
Los Angeles traditional heavy metal act WHITE WIZZARD are preparing to release their brand new album, FLYING TIGERS, on Monday, September 19th in Europe. The album will be released in North America on November 15th.
Ahead of the release of FLYING TIGERS, WHITE WIZZARD bassist and mainman JON LEON took some time to speak to Victor Ruiz of Mars Attacks Radio about the band's approach to writing the new album and the expectations of following on from their critically-acclaimed debut album, OVER THE TOP.
JON LEON comments:
"I didn't go into Flying Tigers feeling like there was any debt to prove anything to anybody. Everything with me, with the writing of White Wizzard, has been pretty much a natural flow, and it's been exactly what I've been feeling at the time and what's come out of me - none of it's contrived. I'm just pretty much a Rush geek and an Iron Maiden geek that loves music, that finally got sick of compromising being in different bands and just decided to form this band not caring if ten people showed up, and I still write like that. I feel blessed that people have reacted so positively to White Wizzard; I'm really, really happy to see that something that I did just kind of on a whim, to form the band I wanted to form and make the music I want, has at least resonated with some people and hopefully it will continue to do so.
"I'm really just focused on myself and our fans, and anybody else that is judging us or feeling like we need to prove something to them, I really am not worried about. At the end of the day I'm very, very proud of this record and I think it's the best thing I feel I've ever done musically as an artist, and I feel like White Wizzard's continuing to progress and I'm progressing as a writer. It was a pleasure to make this record and it's definitely a very exciting time for me as far as what we're going to be putting out."

"Finally, another Evile video! It's been so long since 'Infected Nation' and we couldn't wait to get another video out and try something completely different. The director, Ramy, had all the right ideas for us to achieve something off the wall that we were looking for this time around. 'Cult' is quite a solid, stomping song, so we wanted something to capture that visually without the typical 'shaking' effect. Hope you all like it, and hope you all enjoy Five Serpent's Teeth, out on September 26th (October 18th in the USA) - spread the word!"

RIVAL SONS ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN HEADLINING TOUR
Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS have confirmed a European headlining tour, which is due to kick off on November 4th in Nottingham, UK.
The band played a highly-successful string of European festival dates earlier this year, followed by a UK tour with heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST and QUEENSRYCHE. Now, following a US tour with EVANESCENCE, the band will be returning to Europe for their first headlining tour.
RIVAL SONS guitarist SCOTT HOLIDAY comments:
"After one month's return to the States, we could no longer take it, being away from our fans in Europe. So we are elated to be getting back out to them this November. Besides getting back to some of our favorite countries and cities, this tour will also give us the chance to introduce ourselves to a bunch of new places, like Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Finland, Estonia, Vienna and more! Hopefully everyone over there is ready for a full-on, rock 'n' roll, smack-in-the-face, kick-in-the-pants assault... Because that is what we aim to deliver.
"As for the fans we are returning to - we know they're ready; it's gonna be a blast. This'll be the last Rival Sons tour for 2011! Let's send the year out proper, and remind people that rock 'n' roll is far from dead!"

WHITE WIZZARD BASSIST EXPLAINS "FLYING TIGERS" ALBUM TITLE
Los Angeles traditional heavy metal act WHITE WIZZARD are preparing for the release of their new album, FLYING TIGERS, which hits stores in Europe on September 19th and in North America on November 15th.
The band's bassist and mainman JON LEON recently took some time to speak to Classic Rock magazine about the meaning behind FLYING TIGERS, a tribute to a legendary World War II fighter squadron.
JON LEON comments:
"When I wrote the music and lyrics for this song, it just seemed so visual that it lent itself to being the album title. The Flying Tigers was the name given to the First American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, and they took on the Japanese, who had far superior aircraft, with incredible success. Their kill to death ratio was amazing."

CEREBRAL BORE CONFIRMED FOR UK'S DAMNATION FESTIVAL
Scottish death metal act CEREBRAL BORE have been confirmed for this year's edition of Damnation Festival in the UK.
CEREBRAL BORE will be performing at the festival in Leeds alongside such acts as THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, GODFLESH, DECAPITATED, EVILE and more. The festival takes place on November 5th, 2011.

SSS ANNOUNCE NEW MEMBERS, FIRST SHOWS WITH NEW LINE-UP
British crossover thrashers SSS, who recently released their new album, PROBLEMS TO THE ANSWER, have announced the addition of two new members to the band.
Joining the group are STU TAYLOR (guitar) and DAVE ARCHER (drums), who both also play in Liverpool-based stoner metallers THE BENDAL INTERLUDE, and who replace outgoing members PETE BROOM and DAVE FERGUSSON.

"To have joined SSS is great. Having been in a band with Foxy before, we are used to each other's working methods. Mark is an experienced bass player and we immediately gelled as a band. Gonna be good times to come - new songs, new tours, new experiences. We can't wait."
SSS frontman FOXY adds:
"The untimely departure of two members of SSS prior to the release of 'Problems to the Answer' was unfortunate. However, in that time we have found a new drummer and guitarist. Stu and Dave are a solid unit. Having been in a band with them before and to have watched them shred Liverpool for years, they were the natural choice. We are made up; they have joined up. With the prospect of touring and writing new material, it's an exciting time for SSS and we can't wait to get out and finally play again."
After a couple of months of solid rehearsals, the band are ready to get out on the road and have confirmed their first shows with the new line-up. More shows are due to be announced soon.

"The untimely departure of two members of SSS prior to the release of 'Problems to the Answer' was unfortunate. However, in that time we have found a new drummer and guitarist. Stu and Dave are a solid unit. Having been in a band with them before and to have watched them shred Liverpool for years, they were the natural choice. We are made up; they have joined up. With the prospect of touring and writing new material, it's an exciting time for SSS and we can't wait to get out and finally play again."
After a couple of months of solid rehearsals, the band are ready to get out on the road and have confirmed their first shows with the new line-up. More shows are due to be announced soon.

Singapore grindcore trio WORMROT have returned to Europe for a 7-week tour which kicks off tonight - Thursday, September 1st - in Cardiff in the UK.

EVILE ANNOUNCES BLUE BANANA IN-STORE SIGNING SESSIONS
British thrashers EVILE are preparing for the release of their highly anticipated new album, FIVE SERPENT'S TEETH. To celebrate the release, the band have confirmed a number of in-store signing sessions at Blue Banana stores in the UK.
Fans will get the chance to meet their metal heroes in person and get their EVILE merch signed by the band. The signing sessions are due to take place between 5pm and 6pm in each city (4pm - 5pm in Plymouth).

British thrashers EVILE have confirmed a special Kerrang!-sponsored hometown show to celebrate the release of their highly-anticipated new album, FIVE SERPENT'S TEETH.
The band will be returning to their hometown to treat their loyal local fans to a night of pure, homegrown British metal. The special release show is due to take place at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on October 2nd. Supporting EVILE will be fellow British metallers TORANAGA and GRIEVE.

The band will be returning to their hometown to treat their loyal local fans to a night of pure, homegrown British metal. The special release show is due to take place at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on October 2nd. Supporting EVILE will be fellow British metallers TORANAGA and GRIEVE.
EVILE lead guitarist OL DRAKE comments:
"It's been a long time since we played so close to home. One venue we've always wanted to play near to home is the Picturedrome in Holmfirth. We've teamed up with Kerrang! magazine to have a very special album release show at that very venue. We can't wait to play the new material so close to home after such a long time, and we're honoured to have the great Kerrang! sponsoring this special event. See you all there!"
EVILE frontman MATT DRAKE adds:
"At long last we can announce that we are playing a local show! We haven't played locally in nearly 3 years, so it's about time we did so. We are heading into the green hills of Holmfirth to play at a place called the Picturedrome, which is the place to go to see older rock bands, so for one night we're turning it into a building full of METAL. Hopefully everyone who used to watch us locally back in the day can turn out to see us, along with all the new blood, and make it a night to remember!"
