English anthemic rockers MASSIVE WAGONS are treating fans to one more taste of new music before the release of their eagerly anticipated new album 'Full Nelson' next week, with the release of the brand new song "Hate Me".
Depicted as a sort of "love song turned on its head", the track continues MASSIVE WAGONS' trend of writing huge-sounding hits with big hooks and catchy, singalong choruses, like fan favourites "Ratio" and "Tokyo", along with 'Full Nelson' album opener "Under No Illusion".

MASSIVE WAGONS frontman Baz Mills discusses the moment the band knew they'd struck gold:
"When you're constantly writing songs, constantly throwing ideas and arrangements around, reworking lyrics, umm-ing and ahh-ing about a song, is it right, will the finished product be worth the effort put into a song... When you take a new song to a practice for the first ever time for myself and Adam to play the lads - at this stage Adam's never heard the words and the lads have never heard the lyrics or music - and the room immediately lights up and Alex just busts into the jam with us because he can't contain it, and by the end everyone's playing and big smiles all round, you know you've hit gold. That's honestly only ever happened twice: 'Ratio' and 'Hate Me'. Immediately it's all anyone wants to work on, that track; it invigorates writing and puts you on a high again. We feel it's got such a great radio vibe about it, we'd love to see it do well."
Regarding the meaning behind the lyrics, Baz comments:
"The song itself is essentially a take on a love song, from the viewpoint of the person doing the dumping. I've always loved Alice Cooper's take on song themes. He can take a typical rock 'n' roll-esque track and his lyrics take you to the darkest places sometimes without realising. I really dig that ability. I think 'Hate Me' has an Alice vibe maybe; that '50s style drum beat booming away, the dark lyrics... Yeah, I do love a great lyricist and he's a master. 'Hate Me' is a big fave of ours and has now become a staple part of the live show."
'Full Nelson' is due to be released next Friday, 10th August, and is available to pre-order on limited edition signed CD and vinyl here <http://www.earache.com/fullnelson>.
